Teleprotection and Substation Connectivity: The TPS-3000 and Connection Master Solution
By combining the TPS-3000 teleprotection system with the Connection Master transport platform, DNWP delivers a combined solution for substation connectivity, network management and mission-critical protection across SDH and MPLS-TP networks.
The TPS-3000 is a high-performance teleprotection system designed for the fast and reliable transmission of commands in High Voltage (HV) and Medium Voltage (MV) grids. Compliant with the IEC 60834-1 standard, it is capable of selectively isolating faults within milliseconds, even across disturbed communication channels. When paired with the Connection Master platform, it provides an integrated solution for substation network connectivity and distance protection.

A Complete Substation Solution
DNWP provides turnkey solutions combining Connection Master and TPS-3000 for utility operators. This integrated solution offers several operational advantages:
-
- Single Management Interface: Both devices can be monitored and configured through one common Network Management System (NMS), simplifying oversight of both the protection and transport networks.
- Single Point of Support: Operators benefit from a single point of contact for all technical support related to both the transport network and the teleprotection infrastructure.
- Interoperability: The solution provides 100% interoperability across multiple transport technologies, including SDH and MPLS-TP.

Transport and Interoperability
The Connection Master platform and TPS-3000 teleprotection system are optimized for both SDH and MPLS-TP transport networks.
SDH Transport
For traditional Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) networks, the system supports two primary transmission modes:
- Time Slot Mode: Uses a 64 kbps DS0 connection matrix for conventional multiplexer transport.
- Direct Mode: Enables transparent transport of IEEE C37.94 signals over SDH VC-12 while maintaining the high precision required for protection commands.
MPLS-TP Transport
In modern MPLS-TP environments, the system uses SAToP (Structure-Agnostic TDM over Packet) emulation to transport C37.94 signals transparently. MPLS-TP OAM (Operations, Administration and Maintenance) functions continuously monitor latency and packet loss, helping to ensure reliable transport of mission-critical protection traffic.
