Fingrid selects DNWP to deliver a new high-capacity DWDM transmission system

The new solution leverages the latest technology and scalable architecture from DNWP’s partner, Adtran.

Fingrid has chosen Dedicated Network Partners to replace its end-of-life DWDM transmission system.

“We are Adtran’s partner in Finland, offering its full product portfolio – from high-capacity transmission solutions to highly precise Oscilloquartz atomic clocks – as part of our own solution offering,” says DNWP CEO Antti Viro.

“It is great to be able to provide this kind of solution to support the data transmission needs of Finland’s critical infrastructure.”

The delivery will be carried out as a turnkey project, including hardware, software, commissioning, training, and support services. The system will be integrated into Fingrid’s existing network management environment, allowing alarms to be monitored centrally within the customer’s own system.

Benefits of a high-capacity DWDM transmission solution

The solution is fully redundant and highly resilient, ensuring service continuity even in fault and outage scenarios. High-capacity DWDM connections are widely used for mission-critical networks, enabling extremely high data throughput over long distances.

The procurement was conducted through a competitive tender process.

“DNWP has strong technical expertise and locally available support in Finland,” says Jari Martikainen, Unit Manager at Fingrid.

“Operational reliability is vital for us, and I believe we will be very satisfied with this solution.”
