Janne Annola is DNWP’s mobile troubleshooter, whose job increasingly takes him beyond Finland’s borders to solve critical MPLS-TP and transport network challenges directly on site.
While many employees at DNWP work within Finland, Product Specialist Janne Annola’s job is more mobile in nature. For this very reason, he is widely known within the company as Reissu-Janne, “Traveling Janne.”
Annola works in a role often described as a troubleshooter. His main focus is on MPLS-TP products and transport network solutions.
In autumn 2025, Annola has accumulated nearly a month’s worth of travel days. A significant number of his trips have been to the Middle East, including destinations such as Dubai and Oman.
“Spring and summer were relatively calm, but travel really picked up in the autumn,” Annola says.
“And I don’t mind at all. I’m interested in other cultures and I genuinely enjoy traveling.”
For Annola, the combination of travel, problem-solving, and constantly changing situations is a winning formula. He finds working at DNWP highly rewarding.
“Of course, many issues can be resolved remotely, and that’s usually the preferred approach. But especially with new customers and system deployments, on-site support brings significant added value for the customer.”
From Remote Support to On-Site Troubleshooting

When Annola is called in to resolve a technical issue on-site, the troubleshooting process often begins already in Finland. Using test equipment and networks at the home base, the team can model the customer environment and frequently identify the root cause even before the journey begins.
DNWP has many partners and resellers worldwide, and while a partner can handle parts of the work locally, in-house expertise is crucial, particularly when problems arise. This also helps prevent issues from escalating directly to research and development, where schedules are tight and priorities are already set.
In these situations, the role of the product team becomes especially important. They are the ones who build features in practice, and close cooperation between development and customer operations is essential.
“While this collaboration is sometimes thought to be time-consuming, it plays a critical role in delivering successful projects”, Annola says.
Ultimately, the goal is that the customer is left with a clear sense that everything is moving in the agreed direction and according to plan.
“That at the end of the day, there is no lingering feeling of uncertainty about whether things will work, but only confidence and trust in the solution and the people behind it.”
